About NHS National Services Scotland

National Services Scotland (NSS) are a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland, reporting directly to Scottish Government Health and Social Care. Through our services we provide invaluable support and advice, a role we also extend to the wider public sector.

We support our customers to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively. Our aim is threefold:

  • To help save money and free up resources, enabling re-investment into essential services.
  • To drive improved health and wellbeing outcomes for the people of Scotland.
  • To support better environmental and sustainability performance.

We offer services on a national scale using best-in-class systems and standards, providing consultancy and support to help public bodies join up health and social care, and offering shared services on a national scale across the Scottish public sector using best-in-class systems and standards.

NSS are structured around 6 strategic business units, with 5 supporting business units and corporate directorates, and have 4,000 employees. Through our structure we deliver over 55 services including analytics, IT provision, procurement, payment services and public health and blood products.
