Welcome
Thank you for your interest in the post of Chief Executive of National Mining Museum Scotland. I hope the content of this microsite will provide you with a flavour of what it might be like to join us on our journey.
The museum is a multi award-winning visitor attraction situated in the village of Newtongrange and is one of the finest examples of a Victorian colliery in Europe. The museum employs both full and part-time staff and is supported by a dedicated group of volunteers. This unique site is also home to the National Mining Memorial Centre and the Mini Miners Soft Play and Interactive Zone for our younger visitors. The popular café caters for all tastes and the museum shop provides a varied selection of books and gifts reflecting Scotland’s industrial heritage.
The successful candidate should bring a blend of commercial, operations and leadership experience, backed up by some highly developed communication skills that will foster partnership and collaboration across a broad stakeholder group.
This is a unique opportunity to inspire and take forward our vision for the future. If you believe you are our ideal candidate we’d be delighted to explore the possibilities with you.
