Welcome

Appointment of Director of Fitness to Practise
Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)

Thank you for your interest in the Director of Fitness Practise vacancy. This post is a key role within the SSSC, adding to the strength of our Executive Management Team (EMT) by developing and supporting our values, culture and strategic direction.

I hope the information provided will answer your questions about the work of the SSSC and help you decide whether you are the right person to meet the key challenges for this unique opportunity.

The SSSC is responsible for registering social service workers in Scotland and regulating their education and training. We aim to make sure that every one of the 189,000 social workers and social service workers across the country are properly equipped to provide the best possible care to people who use services. To that end we are also the national hub for workforce development and planning for social services.

One of our responsibilities is to protect people who use services and their carers by maintaining a Register of social workers, social service workers and social work students. Our Fitness to Practise Department plays a key role in this area investigating concerns about social service workers who have applied for registration or workers who are already registered with us, and taking action where required.

We are looking to appoint an exceptional senior manager with strong leadership skills who can shape, review and improve our approach to meeting our agreed outcomes and strategic objectives but more importantly make sure the public is protected.

If you are inspired by the challenges this opportunity presents and believe you have the relevant skills, experience and qualities we are looking for, I look forward to receiving your application which will be given careful consideration.

Anna Fowlie
Chief Executive, SSSC
