Chair of UHI Inverness and Chair of UHI Moray

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the roles of Chair of the Board of Management at UHI Moray and at UHI Inverness.

The University of the Highlands and Islands Partnership (UHI) has been established for the advancement and pursuance of education, to advance all aspects of learning and knowledge and to provide and facilitate the delivery of industrial, commercial, professional, and scientific education, research, and training.  The University is designated as a Regional Strategic Body (RSB) and is responsible for securing the coherent provision of high quality fundable further and higher education throughout the Highlands and Islands, Moray and Perthshire.

The University operates as a collegiate federal partnership and delivers tertiary education and world class research via collaboration with ten Academic Partners including UHI Moray and UHI Inverness.

UHI Inverness and UHI Moray offer a diverse range of courses, many taking advantage of our region’s unique environment and culture.

UHI Moray and UHI Inverness are both Assigned Colleges of the University by virtue of Scottish Statutory Instrument (SSI) 2014 No. 146. Both colleges are also Public Bodies with their own Chairs and Boards of Management. The University of the Highlands and Islands is responsible for monitoring the performance of these colleges and for appointing the Chair and independent members of the college boards of management in accordance with its obligations as the RSB.

The role of Board Chair is a challenging but highly rewarding position, with the expectation that the successful candidate will monitor the ongoing performance of the college, ensure that the College Board demonstrably acts consistently with the principles of public life, UHI values and demonstrates a commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Through this booklet you will find some general information about UHI Inverness and UHI Moray and a role description for each of the posts of Chair of the Board of Management.
