Welcome
These are exciting times at Social Investment Scotland (SIS). As we celebrate our 25th anniversary year, our latest annual Impact Report demonstrates the power of social investment to create meaningful change in communities across Scotland and beyond.
Over the last 25 years, we have deployed over £167 million in 570 social enterprises and mission-driven businesses across the UK. This year alone, our active loans and investments reached £52.5m across 216 organisations, positively impacting the lives of over six million people.
In early 2020, we launched our ‘Building an Impact Economy’ strategy – unaware that a global pandemic would soon reshape the world around us. In March 2022, the SIS board endorsed a second action plan, ‘Turning up the Volume’, reaffirming our ambition to be bolder and more confident in advancing an impact economy.
As SIS enters the final years of our ten-year strategy, we are focused on expanding access to fair and affordable finance through a proposed Community Capital Fund; driving innovation in childcare and nature-based finance to support families, climate resilience, and local employment; strengthening market-building efforts; and progressing policy change through the Financial Inclusion for Scotland group.
This work is supported by a fantastic Board whose members bring deep experience, strategic insight, and a shared commitment to building the infrastructure for a fairer, more inclusive impact economy. We are now seeking new trustees who share our mission and values. As a trustee, you will support the Board and Leadership Team to deliver our strategy and advance key priorities as we continue to grow our impact across Scotland.
We look forward to hearing from you.
