Chief Executive Officer

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the role of Chief Executive at Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA). This is an exciting and pivotal time for us as we celebrate our 50th anniversary—a milestone that marks half a century of impact, innovation, and unwavering commitment to our members and the wider community.

Our outgoing Chief Executive has led the organisation with distinction for the past eight years, strengthening our reputation, expanding our influence, and ensuring that we remain a vital resource for our members. Her leadership has established SFHA as the voice of housing associations and co-operatives throughout Scotland. During her tenure, SFHA has achieved a significant increase in members and is now close to 100% sector membership. We are immensely proud of what has been achieved, and we are now looking for an exceptional leader to build on this legacy and take us forward into our next chapter.

SFHA is a dynamic and highly respected membership organisation, dedicated to representing, supporting and connecting our members. Members provide safe, warm, affordable rented homes for more than half a million people, from Shetland to the Scottish Borders. They are at the heart of everything we do, and we pride ourselves on providing outstanding support, advocacy, and services that help them thrive. Over the years, we have adapted and evolved to meet changing needs and today we stand as a forward-thinking organisation with a clear vision for the future.

We have a passionate and skilled team, a committed Board of Directors, and a vibrant membership base that values our work. Our financial position is strong, and our strategic direction is ambitious. We are in the second year of our three year strategy: One Voice, Bringing Scotland’s Housing Associations Together. As we mark our 50th year, we are not only celebrating our achievements but also looking ahead—seeking new opportunities for growth, innovation, and influence.

We are searching for an inspiring and strategic leader who shares our values and who can harness the strengths of our organisation while bringing fresh ideas and perspectives. You will need to be a skilled communicator, an advocate for our members, and a confident ambassador for our cause. You will lead a talented team, work closely with an engaged Board and Senior Leadership Team, and ensure that SFHA continues to be a powerful voice in our sector.

If you are excited by the prospect of shaping the future of our organisation and making a real difference, we would love to hear from you. This is a rare and rewarding opportunity to lead a well-established, highly regarded organisation at a time of celebration and renewal.

We hope you will consider joining us on this journey.

Kind regards,

Douglas Mackie
