Dumfries and Galloway College is located in beautiful South West Scotland, the gateway to three countries – Scotland, England and Ireland; the perfect location to learn, live and explore.

The College’s approach to learning is a reflection of the rural locality, the local economy and the changing patterns of lifestyles. As a major employer and a dynamic rural learning institution, the ‘digital’ revolution has been strongly embraced by us and its many forms are fast becoming the basis of our organisations operations and academic delivery.

We are moving into an exciting stage of our development, building on the successes of the past and driving forward to achieve our aspiration of becoming “an outstanding regional college”.  We are at the start of a transformation journey as set out in our new strategic plan, Ambition 2025.  The achievement of that ambition will depend on a robust financial and investment strategy and a drive to grow commercial income.

We are seeking a strategic thinker; a self-starter who has the ability to work innovatively to support our business transformation programme, seek partnership opportunities to contribute to long term financial sustainability, and be able to motivate and lead a team through a period of change.

The successful candidate will lead the development of our financial strategy, translate ideas and opportunities for commercial development into a realistic income generation strategy, and create a future investment plan to support a long term sustainable future. The impact of COVID-19 has created some challenges for the College but has also identified opportunities and potential on which we want to build.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team you will deputise for the Principal as required.  You will lead the development of our marketing strategy and be responsible for all corporate communications ensuring a dynamic and creative approach.  You will also deliver a customer focused approach towards all stakeholders, both internal and external, developing strategic partnerships to ensure that the College’s vision and business portfolio achieves growth and investment targets.

With a relevant professional accountancy qualification and with knowledge and experience of working in a senior financial leadership role in a large, complex, multi-faceted organisation, you will drive a culture of success, quality and ambition that embraces change, opportunity, creativity and challenge to create a college “can do” attitude.

We are keen to encourage applications from outstanding individuals currently at this level or ambitious, talented professionals who are looking for their first senior SMT position.
