The University of the Highlands and Islands is the United Kingdom’s leading integrated university encompassing both further and higher education. Based in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, our distinctive partnership of 13 independent colleges and research institutions is locally based and rooted in communities, but with national and international reach, as part of a regional university structure.

To support our work we are recruiting to the following role :

Programme Director (Integration)
Salary range £80,000 per annum
Duration Fixed term for one year
Working hours 35 hours per week
Location At any location across the partnership as agreed with Principal & Vice Chancellor

The University of the Highlands & Islands achieved university title in 2011 and became the Highlands and Islands regional strategic body for further education in 2013. The current structure comprises the university and thirteen academic partners, four of whom are incorporated colleges.

The partnership is now evolving and, in particular, the four incorporated colleges and the university wish to consider integration to form one legal entity.

The chairs of the four incorporated colleges and the university have now agreed to progress to the first phase of integration and to lead this programme of work are seeking to appoint a Programme Director.

The postholder will provide executive support for an initial period of one year for the integration process including carrying out the extensive consultation and communication programme required. The postholder will be required to engage the services of appropriate independent professionals to carry out legal, financial and HR due diligence including advice and support on a new organisational structure to allow the integration to be concluded by the agreed date or as soon as possible thereafter.
