Directorships (Chief Digital and Information Officer, Director of Campus Life, Director of Marketing and Communications and Director of People and Culture)

Ulster is a university in the top 3% globally, with a £200m turnover, that has a central role to play in Northern Ireland’s future.

The University is embarking on a new ambitious strategic plan, known as the Five and Fifty strategic plan, for the next five years with a strategic vision that will take them to their fiftieth anniversary in 2034. The plan is focused on delivering a university that is sustainable and innovative with a strong international reputation.

The University wishes to appoint outstanding leaders to four new Directorships. These positions, which form part of a refreshed and streamlined leadership team, offer exciting opportunities for energetic and dynamic individuals who will help shape the future direction and success of the University. The following positions are available:

  • Chief Digital and Information Officer;
  • Director of Campus Life;
  • Director of Marketing and Communications;
  • Director of People and Culture.

The four Directors will support the Chief Operating Officer in delivering ‘best in class’ professional services, co-creating solutions with academic colleagues and students and developing exemplars of partnership working. These positions are both challenging and rewarding, with a broad range of responsibilities. The responsibilities fall into three broad areas: to champion, develop and oversee strategies relating to the particular portfolio; to provide leadership to the professional services staff in the portfolio; and as a member of the Chief Operating Officer’s Leadership Team to contribute to strategic matters affecting the University’s business performance and sustainability.

The successful applicants will have a determined and resilient approach to leadership, encouraging ideas, initiative and innovation in others whilst establishing a cost-effective and high-performance culture based on continuous improvement. They must be able to build strong stakeholder relationships and play a key strategic role in enabling the University to fulfil its potential.

The University offers an attractive reward package including a competitive starting salary, access to an attractive pension scheme and financial assistance with relocation expenses where appropriate.

The posts can be based at any of the University’s four campuses.

As there will be a separate recruitment exercise for each position, applicants interested in more than one position should apply separately for each.
