Attractive Senior Package
SRUC is unique in Scotland and one of the largest organisations of its kind in Europe.  Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national, and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.
As a progressive, research-underpinned tertiary institution, SRUC is in a strong position to create a step change in meeting the demand for skills in Scotland. We have developed a strategic institutional domain focus on the Natural Economy, as a cornerstone for incorporating commercial reach and impact, with integration and flow across research, education and business. We see this, and the way in which SRUC works at the intersection of business, government, and society, as critical to delivery of the levels of skills and innovation required.
Skills Academy – The Leadership opportunity
The Skills Academy at SRUC is an exciting new initiative in our plans for growth, and we are looking for someone likeminded and ambitious to lead and shape it. The combination of this academic domain, and the need for skills and innovation to deliver the impact on the Scottish economy, and a ‘Green Recovery’ presents an opportunity for a tertiary institution to make a significant contribution to upskilling and reskilling the Scottish workforce. We are now seeking a senior leader to join us as the first Skills Academy Director.
The SRUC Skills academy aims to provide a high-level conduit between current research and decision makers within bio-based businesses, which encompasses all aspects of the Agri food, Environment and Biotechnology pipelines. Our training will be delivered in an industry- responsive and flexible format enabling students to update their technical knowledge, embed new knowledge in the workplace and work towards postgraduate qualifications tailored to their industry needs.
Responsibilities:
  • Generating a world class industry focused skill and CPD offering at SRUC
  • Leading Skills and CPD activity within SRUC
  • Growing income and activity to make SRUC the top Scottish provider in our subject areas.
  • Sourcing new funding opportunities in addition to current providers
  • Continuous and sustainable growth in our CPD and skills activity
The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader, who can build on our strong foundations, working with our teams and stakeholders to encourage greater commercial activity. You should have experience with the development and delivery of CPD and training at an FE or HE level, managing complex projects and generating external income.
