To continue towards achieving our strategic objectives, we are seeking to appoint a Director of Legal & Governance Services.

Reporting to the Assistant Chief Executive of Resources, as a member of the Resources Team, this post is responsible for ensuring the provision and delivery of high quality, effective legal and governance services. They will also fulfil the role of Company Secretary and Data Protection Controller on behalf of the Group.

This is a senior management role with responsibility for a team of around 30 people including the legal, policy, governance, tenancy information, corporate procurement, CCTV, data compliance and repossession teams.

The Director of Legal & Governance will provide a wide range of legal advice and support to the Board and Executive Management Team and act as an advocate and representative on behalf of the Group offering guidance on the preparation and presentation of proceedings of varying degrees of complexity.

The successful candidate will uphold the ethics and values of the organisation and demonstrate integrity, leadership and drive. They will be a fully qualified solicitor with a certificate of practice and they should have significant experience of working in a legal practice or legal department at a senior level, specialising in either housing and litigation, or company commercial and contract law matters. We are also looking for someone with extensive experience of Court and Tribunal procedures, including relevant experience of line management and supervision of staff.
