This position is now closed to applications.

Viewpoint is Scotland’s oldest housing association and is unique in that it has both care homes and sheltered housing. Their three care homes are located in Edinburgh and their over 1300 properties located within Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife.

Viewpoint’s focus is to create joy in later years by managing a range of supported housing and care services for older people in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife. It all started back in 1947 and their goals are the same today as they’ve always been – to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of their tenants and residents by encouraging independence, enabling choice and offering peace of mind in a safe and supported environment.

The Director of Care Services is an Executive Director working collaboratively as part of the Executive Team to achieve the vision, objectives and outcomes of Viewpoint. The purpose of the role is to lead and inspire the Care Services Team (care homes with nursing) and work closely with the Director of People and Place to support other care services (care at home) to deliver creative, modern and person centred services which exemplify the best in care services for older people.

The role will inspire and influence stakeholders to shape Viewpoint’s care services for the benefit of tenants and residents and to extend our services to a wider population of older people. You will work closely with Health and Social Care Partnerships, other commissioners and regulators to develop models of care that enable a seamless care pathway for all existing and new Viewpoint customers.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level with a proven track record of managing care services at a senior level including clinical oversight and management of a budget exceeding £3m. The ability to lead and inspire a large, diverse team of staff will be essential as well as empathy and an understanding of the needs and aspirations of older people.

Viewpoint is a not for profit organisation and as a Registered Charity is regulated by the Scottish Housing Regulator and Care Inspectorate.
