Social Enterprise Scotland is Scotland’s national membership body, campaign group and network for social enterprises. They support members with news, information, public policy updates, advice, connections and events. They build networks between social enterprises and their peers and important stakeholders across Scotland. They are an influencing voice for their members on the issues that matter to them. They raise the profile of social enterprises and their products and services to key audiences. Working with social enterprises of all types and sizes, they currently have around 200 members.

To help Social Enterprise Scotland build on the first class service they provide, Aspen are working with them in partnership to appoint a Chief Executive to lead, develop, deliver and sustain the organisation’s work throughout Scotland. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for all Social Enterprise Scotland’s activities. They will manage a small team to lead Social Enterprise Scotland through a period of transition and development as it seeks to evolve and respond to the changing social enterprise and wider ethical and socially responsible business landscape. Experience of leading a team through change is crucial for this role.

The successful candidate could come from either a public, private or voluntary sector background, and must have demonstrable leadership skills. You will be driven to grow the membership and organisation overall and will be able to show success with a commercial outlook, such as developing income generating activities. You will have considerable experience of developing partnerships and working in collaboration with other organisations and bodies. The Chief Executive is essentially the face of the organisation, and as such representing the organisation at various events across the country will be an important part of the role, with travel across Scotland being expected.

Annual leave entitlement is 25 days with one extra day of annual leave accrued per full year worked, to a maximum of 5 additional days. Staff are also entitled to 10 public holidays per year. There is a generous contributory pension scheme.
