The Scottish Council for Development & Industry (SCDI) is an independent and inclusive economic and social development network. They seek to influence and inspire government and key stakeholders with their ambitious vision to create sustainable economic growth for Scotland. Their influential and unique membership across the private, public and social economy sectors forms a gathering of knowledge, experienced and talent providing a dynamic and creative force for change and improvement.

SCDI are seeking an ambitious & enthusiastic Chief Executive who will engage with leaders and senior representatives across Scotland and the UK to deliver their non-politically-aligned mission of engaging civic Scotland and driving sustainable economic growth.

The successful candidate will have a proven record in project & operational delivery as well as steering policy work in the emerging economy, with the ability to navigate complex and often rapidly changing economic and political issues, together with a high level of commercial acumen.

Applicants shall possess the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with SCDI’s members and senior policy and decision makers/influencers, including political representatives and the media. Creative and strategic thinking will be required to build and lead an effective programme of policy engagement opportunities for members, to expand and build the membership base and to achieve new sources of revenue in support of SCDI’s core policy and membership activity.

Based in Glasgow, but involving travel throughout Scotland and to London, this high-profile leadership role suits an outgoing personality with proven planning, organisational management and commercial skills. The post offers an attractive package commensurate with experience.
