Playing a key role in accelerating progress for Orkney’s 2025 vision for tourism, Destination Orkney is a newly formed partnership based approach to destination marketing, management and membership in the Orkney Islands. Comprising of principal partners including Destination Orkney (previously Orkney Tourism Group), Orkney Islands Council, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, VisitScotland, Historic Environment Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage, the partnership is reflective of a new dynamic and ambitious tourism approach for Orkney.

We are working with Destination Orkney to appoint a Chief Executive to lead the strategic partnership, board and staff. The role offers a unique and challenging opportunity for an experienced or ambitious leader who will bring understanding, passion and enthusiasm along with a real appreciation for Orkney’s culture and an understanding of the challenges facing Orkney’s tourism sector.

The successful candidate will be experienced in driving innovation and strategy with a strong record of inspirational leadership. Community engagement experience and ability to lead, motivate and grow the capacity of a diverse skilled team will be essential to the success of this role.
