We inspire and educate visitors and school children from around the UK and beyond through imaginative and exciting exhibitions, fun family workshops and a comprehensive schools programme.

Our aim is to become the UK’s leading medical museum by delivering innovative and inspirational learning opportunities rooted in the heritage of medicine and healthcare.

As Capital Development Director, you will lead the Museum’s £4.8m capital development project, managing development and delivery of Thackray’s strategic vision, business plan and funding commitments for this key work. The role will have responsibility for leading on all areas of estates operational management as well as managing and monitoring all external relationships to the capital project, building and operations.

The role will also deputise for the Chief Executive, providing support in the development of strategy, financial oversight, governance, leadership and operations.

The successful candidate will have significant strategic leadership experience of a major capital development project ideally in a museum, voluntary or third sector setting. Experience of working closely at a senior level with contractors, sub-contractors, clients and the public on initiatives will be essential. You will have proven leadership skills and experience of delivering change in a capital development situation.
