Our Values

Life: The value and dignity of human life is centre to all we do and to the care and support we provide. Person centred approaches for us means taking an interest in the ‘whole’ life of the ‘whole’ person.

Justice: Respect for dignity of human life cannot be separated from justice.  This respect implies a demand for justice, namely recognition of the dignity and rights of all people. We endeavour to reduce stigma and to speak out on issues affecting the care and support of those who are the most vulnerable in our society.

Community: Two dimensions help to articulate the commitment to the value of community which we hold.  The first indicates the way in which people live and work together in our services.  The second describes the relationships which we develop within the wider geographical local community. The aim of The Mungo Foundation is to form relationships which are conducive to growth and development while recognising the specific rights of the individuals.

Our Structure

The Mungo Foundation was incorporated on 23 September 2003 as a company limited by guarantee (SC 256488) and recognised by the Inland Revenue as a charity for the purposes of Section 505 Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1988 (SC 035078) with effect from that date.  The company’s Memorandum and Articles of Association are its governing document. The company began operating on 1 April 2004.

Governance and Board Membership

The company is headed by a Board of Trustees. The management of the company is headed by a Chief Executive who reports to the Board on a regular basis. Operational and strategic activities are delegated to the Chief Executive and the Executive Team, consisting of the Director of Operations; Director of People Services; Deputy CEO/Director of Finance.

The roles and responsibilities of Trustees, and the requirements of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator are regular items at Board meetings. Training for Board Members on governance and other matters is provided regularly.

The Mungo Foundation is organised into 4 operational areas, with each area aligned with our business support and business partnering model. Individual regions are led by a Regional Manager, who reports to the Director of Operations. Each Regional Manager works collaboratively with their business partners to ensure that the performance and sustainability of services is supported. Our services are registered across 36 separate registrations with the Care inspectorate, in compliance with the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001.
