St Margaret of Scotland Hospice is the first and largest Hospice in Scotland. Since our doors opened in 1950, St Margaret of Scotland Hospice has touched the lives of thousands of patients with advanced life-limiting illness and complex medical and nursing needs, their families and friends.
For the past 75 years St Margaret of Scotland Hospice has been considered as a leading provider of specialist palliative care As we embark on the next chapter in the history of the Hospice we also want to be considered as a centre of excellence for research and training in palliative and complex clinical care. To take this forward, we are building strategic partnerships with academia and the NHS to promote research and develop innovative ways of working that will not only benefit our patients but also enable the Hospice sector to deliver its full potential as a cornerstone of healthcare provision across the UK. Statistics and accolades do not come close to painting a full picture of the personal and compassionate service our specialist staff provide to all those in need of care. For everyone who works here, compassion is a vocation. In addition to our main facility situated in colourful, landscaped grounds in Clydebank, near Glasgow, we offer a wide range of services to the local community – including the Edwina Bradley Day Hospice, Out Patient Facilities, Community Specialist Palliative Care and Counselling Services.
Applications are invited for a 1.0 WTE substantive consultant post in Palliative Medicine working primarily at St Margaret of Scotland Hospice and with the employment contract held by St Margaret of Scotland Hospice.
St Margaret of Scotland Hospice has undergone significant change over the last year and is now entering an exciting phase of new developments and initiatives. We want to ensure that our clinical services continue to offer high quality care for patients, and we are keen to explore innovative ways of working to meet the challenges of the future. This will involve further consultant recruitment in the near future.
St Margaret of Scotland Hospice provides high-quality, individual care for local people living with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as support for their families and helpers. Care is offered in a variety of ways according to the patient’s needs.
Services are offered from the main Hospice site in East Barns Street, Clydebank. Services include a team of community-based St Margaret of Scotland clinical nurse specialist staff, our renowned Edwina Bradley day hospice, hospice at home, bereavement and family support.
There is no charge to patients for the specialist services we offer. St Margaret of Scotland Hospice employs over 120 paid staff and a similar number of volunteers.
