Director of Policy, Analysis & Standards

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the post of Director of Policy, Analysis and Standards at the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). This is a critical new appointment, to strengthen the role of our research, policy, standards and statistics functions, ensuring we are well placed to respond to immediate challenges and those in the medium to longer term.

SQA is the national qualifications awarding and accreditation body, and is at the heart of the education and training system in Scotland. SQA helps learners across Scotland and beyond realise their potential and achieve their ambitions. Through this, our work benefits the economy, wider society, and the nation as a whole, by providing a wide range of high quality, internationally recognised qualifications and associated services.

We have faced some significant challenges this year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and we want to be in the strongest position to face challenges and opportunities in the future. This post will be pivotal in shaping the agenda for the future of qualifications and assessment in Scotland and to SQA’s contribution to the national education system.

This is an exciting role for SQA, and I’m looking for an experienced leader to work with a dedicated, passionate team of people to ensure we deliver. The Director of Policy, Analysis and Standards will play a key role in my executive management team, which reports to the Board of Management appointed by Scottish Ministers.

If you feel you have the skills and experience for this role, I would be delighted to hear from you.

Fiona Robertson
Chief Executive
