Chief Executive Officer

Southside Housing Association
Chief Executive Officer
Salary £82,908-85,681
Glasgow

Southside Housing Association is an award winning registered social landlord, providing housing and a range of other services across the south side of Glasgow.  With over 2500 homes offering a variety of tenures.   Southside H.A. is community controlled with high levels of tenant participation in its decision making.  Operating from modern offices in Cardonald, the Association employs a team of 90 and its mission is to provide quality, affordable homes and to work with communities and partners to maintain safe and popular neighbourhoods.

Due to the impending retirement of the current CEO later this year after a successful 25-year track record, Southside HA is now looking to appoint a successor.  The Association is seeking applications from experienced leaders who will inspire the staff team and provide leadership and guidance to the Association’s Management Committee in meeting all the Association’s operational and strategic needs. The CEO will ensure that the Association meets all its legal, financial, regulatory and best practice obligations.

The key responsibilities of the CEO will include ensuring the highest standards of:

  • Governance, in accordance with the Association’s policies
  • Leadership, by providing direction to the growth and development of the association, and ensuring the staff team achieve the highest levels of performance and service delivery
  • Risk Management, being prudent in managing all potential financial, operational and strategic risks
  • Policy Formulation, by formulating policies and plans for the development of the association, including development and business planning
  • External Relations, through protecting and promoting a positive reputation with key stakeholders

The successful candidate will evidence a consistent track record of achievement gained in a senior executive capacity, within an organisation that has delivered success in a customer-focused, regulated organisation like Southside HA.  While previous experience of the Housing sector will be a distinct advantage it is not a prerequisite of the post. Essential qualities will be leadership and business acumen along with strong experience in corporate governance and a track record of delivering financial stability and growth.  You will also have experience of supporting and servicing a voluntary board of management ensuring effective governance of the Association is maintained.

In addition, you will have senior management experience with significant staff responsibilities and a sound understanding of the many challenges facing the housing sector.

Southside HA is an exceptional organisation and one of the key providers of affordable housing in Glasgow.  This role represents an exciting opportunity for candidates who have already experienced operating at CEO level and are ready for a larger organisation or alternatively for those who are ready to step up from a senior executive position to their first CEO post.
