Chair, National Centre for Music

Chair, National Centre for Music

Non-remunerated

Edinburgh

We are seeking to recruit a first Chair for the NCM, who will in turn appoint a board and lead the appointment of any executive staff.  At the outset the NCM will draw funding through the RHSPT and its core funding partner, Dunard Fund.  It will be expected over time to build its own fundraising department, and play an important role in shaping and funding the forthcoming restoration and development of the Royal High School site.

We are convinced that this is a unique opportunity for the right person to shape what will become one of the most significant parts of Scotland’s cultural landscape.

The successful candidate will have

  • Strong enthusiasm for the general goals of the NCM and the ability to refine this into a suitable strategic plan
  • An ability to shape those general goals into a deliverable programme of activities, assisted by a board which they would take the lead in appointing and a suitable development budget
  • A deep understanding of the opportunities to develop and fund such programmes in Scotland
  • A proven ability to build and lead a cultural enterprise

We very much hope you will engage.
