The Role – Depute Chief Executive

Inverness

£123,612

The Highlands of Scotland is renowned for its beauty, hospitality and lifestyle. The Highland economy is centred around tourism, life sciences, renewable energy and aquaculture. The Inverness and Highland City-Region Deal is delivering £315m of investment through Scottish and UK Governments, the Council and regional partners. This 10 year programme aims to deliver a step change in transport, innovation, digital connectivity, housing, skills, infrastructure, life sciences and tourism. There’s something different and special about life in the north of Scotland. Whether it’s down to the diversity of the geography, an area rich in outdoor opportunities; the vibrant culture; or the friendly welcome, the Highlands offers a unique lifestyle.

The Highland Council provides a wide range of services with a revenue budget of £640m (2021-22). We are now looking to build upon our successes and our ‘Ambitious Highland – Health and Prosperity Strategy for Highland’ provides focus for our immediate, medium and long term performance. Together with the Chief Executive, and with the support of the Executive Chief Officers, the Depute Chief Executive will be instrumental in further developing resilience, continued growth and sustainability.

We are seeking an outstanding leader with proven experience of delivering organisational vision and strategy. Experience and understanding of operational complexity, change management and people leadership is required and you will have exceptional communication and ambassadorial skills in order to deputise for the Chief Executive and lead the Recovery, Improvement and Transformation Programme. Working as part of the Executive Leadership Team you will be dynamic and ambitious for positive change and you will be committed to partnership working and inclusivity.

If you relish challenge and working at a very fast pace, while connecting with people at every opportunity across a vast and beautiful area in the north of Scotland, then this is the perfect role for you.
