ASET is an international oil and gas training academy based in Aberdeen. It is a subsidiary of North East Scotland College and provides a wide range of training for the oil and gas, engineering and construction industries in areas including process, maintenance engineering, electrical, ex hazardous areas, emergency response and marine.
ASET has bases at Altens, where market-leading facilities include a fully functioning oil and gas training platform and control system, as well as at Clinterty and the College’s City Campus. Recently, over 70 new courses have been created for delivery covering everything from production trade testing, renewables and the environmental sector to transferrable skills to support energy transition.
The role
ASET is actively seeking a forward thinking and engaging Chair with credible leadership skills, commercial acumen, and a deep commitment to the Northeast (NE) region. They must fully understand the need for future growth in order to create new industries, skills and jobs to better serve the community. They must demonstrate a focus on introducing green initiatives and exploring new income streams, with a keen understanding of the energy transition landscape.
The ideal candidate should be highly motivated with Board Governance experience either gained from being a Chair previously or from being on Boards of a similar nature. A vital aspect of the role involves a strong interest in the NE region, coupled with the capability to lead the board and fulfil essential governance responsibilities, making this an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking and regionally-committed leader.
