Glasgow Building Preservation Trust - Chief Executive

Welcome

We are excited to invite you to consider applying for the role of Director and to lead Glasgow Building Preservation Trust in an exciting new chapter for the charity.

We exist to rescue, repair and restore historic buildings at risk, working with charities and third-sector organisations to return the buildings to viable use in the heart of the community.  We play a unique role in the ongoing regeneration of the city, but we also support other organisations in the delivery of their projects.  We also deliver the annual Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival each year in September.

Since 1982 we’ve earned a great reputation for successfully delivering 23 complex and challenging heritage projects including Castlemilk Stables, St Andrews in the Square, Kelvingrove Bandstand, Parkhead School and we look forward to celebrating our 40th anniversary in 2022 with the completion of the West Boathouse project in Glasgow Green.

The opportunities ahead include identifying future projects, working with charities, community organisations and Glasgow City Council to develop and ultimately deliver projects which address community needs as well as getting historic buildings off the Buildings at Risk register in the process.

During the course of all our building preservation projects, it’s not just the stonework and the roof gets repaired, but also people’s hope, purpose, identity, community spirit & optimism – giving opportunity and courage for those people to take control of their future.

If you think you have a mix of skills and experience in heritage, community development, capacity building, project management and you’re motivated by delivering on behalf of community groups projects which no-one else could do, then we’d love to hear from you.

Best wishes with your application

Charles Turner,

Acting Chair, GBPT
