Dear Applicant,
Appointment of Chief Executive
Thank you for showing an interest in becoming our new Chief Executive and joining a team of passionate, engaged, professionals committed to our vision of providing quality affordable homes, sustainable communities and life chances for people.
Atrium has been operating as a registered social landlord since 2000 and we are now looking to appoint our second Chief Executive in 21 years. Our new leader will take us into the future, ensuring our journey of improvement and innovation continues, whilst leading our Executive Team in the development and delivery of the organisation’s strategic plans. The incoming Chief Executive will realise the Board’s vision for Atrium and ensure all staff and services embrace the Customer First culture.
Atrium operates across a broad geography, and has a presence in nine different towns in East and South Ayrshire. Each community has its own issues, own needs and own aspirations and it is our role to continue to support the diverse needs of our local communities. We believe it is important to play an active role in supporting local residents, groups, and charities through, for example, our “Cash in the Community Fund”.
A number of our communities face difficult challenges in terms of disadvantage, deprivation, poor health and unemployment. We have shaped some of our services to mitigate the impact as much as we can. Last year alone, we supported tenants to claim almost £630k in ongoing benefits, accessed £28k of discretionary housing benefit and secured over £75k in lump sum payments including back dated benefits.
We also recognise the documented connections between poor housing and poor health and our Business Plan confirms our longer term plans to invest £12million to improve our older houses whilst keeping rents affordable. We will also be exploring options for further new housing having completed 27 new build properties within the last year.
Recognising the need to be seen in the community, we built new headquarters within Shortlees to demonstrate our commitment to the community and that we were much more than just a landlord.
Atrium employs compassionate people who very often go “above and beyond” for our customers. We want to ensure that going forward, customers remain at the forefront as we develop and improve our services. We are therefore looking for a person who is passionate about social housing and believes in communities; who is an inspirational leader and excellent communicator; who will be committed to the organisation; and who will drive us forward to achieve our challenging objectives.
If you think you are that person, I look forward to receiving your completed application.
Good luck
Joe Keen
