St Columba’s Hospice are Edinburgh and the Lothian’s specialist care and support hospice, providing help to people with to people with life-limiting conditions and their families. A diverse and committed workforce (made up of approximately 231 staff and over 650 volunteers), St Columba’s Hospice has been delivering outstanding support and care to patients and their families, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for over 45 years.
They aim through every interaction with an individual or a family, to provide access to the resources and services they need, so that they can live as independently as possible for as long as they can. That’s why they put patients and their families at the heart of everything they do both in the Hospice and in the community.

The Director of Finance:
The role of the Director of Finance at St Columba’s Hospice is a vital one that ensures the safe, steady running of operations, services, and staff on an everyday basis. They are accountable for the Hospice’s strategic financial management and leadership as well as maxmising costs to invest in the organisations purpose and driving efficiency. Additionally, the Director of Finance will be an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team and contribute to the corporate strategy and business plans.
Who you are:
This is an exciting time to join St Columba’s Hospice and we are looking to speak to individuals who can bring strong leadership skills and passion for helping others. You’ll be a degree qualified accountant and member of one of the six recognised bodies.
Knowledge of the third sector, social care or charitable sector would be preferrable, but you will have a track record of leading a team and working closely with a board at a senior level.
You need to be able to effectively articulate financial terms for the broader team, and being a strong people manager is vital to developing and nurturing the talent of the finance team at St Columba’s Hospice.

The logistics:
St Columba’s Hospice operate out of their beautiful Edinburgh office on Boswall Road, overlooking the Forth in Leith. The role will operate on a hybrid basis with expectation to be in the office to lead the team at least two days a week with an option to work at home the other two.
