The Scottish Commission for Learning Disability (SCLD) is an intermediary organisation, supporting the Scottish Government as a strategic partner and working with the learning disability sector in Scotland to drive delivery and improve the quality of life for people with learning disabilities and their families.

SCLD is committed to ensuring people who have learning disabilities realise their rights as equal citizens and to finding new and better ways to improve their lives. Through influencing policy development, sharing good practice and disseminating evidence SCLD aims to be a knowledge and information hub which drives change, improvement and innovation.

In order to complete their board, we are now working with SCLD to appoint two new trustees who will bring new skills, knowledge and experience to complement those of the existing trustees currently serving. Our aim is to create a diverse and talented board of team players with the ideas, energy and vision to support SCLD through the next exciting phase of its life.

We are seeking diverse and dynamic individuals with Board level experience and a forward thinking, innovative working style. Ideally applicants will have experience in the charitable sector, with a strong strategic and creative thinking ability. Experience of partnership working within and across organisations as well as organisational change and development will be beneficial. We welcome applications in particular from those with professional or personal experience of learning disability, and from candidates with excellent commercial acumen or finance expertise.
