Thank you very much for your interest in the work of St Mary’s Kenmure, one of Scotland’s secure residential care and education (“Secure Care”) accommodation units for young people under-18. Secure Care is unique within the United Kingdom and there are 78 places in Scotland at 4 different Secure Care centres.

The decision to place a young person into such accommodation and then manage their transition in and out of St Mary’s is very difficult and receives considerable scrutiny. Each young person has complex needs, often in the context of multiple adverse childhood experiences and significant trauma, and may pose a significant risk to themselves or others in the community. We provide intensive specialist support and safe boundaries to help our highly vulnerable young people re-engage and move forward positively in their communities.

I was delighted to take on the role of Chair of the Trustees in November 2023 and I am in the process of strengthening the Board of Trustees to offer the senior leadership team access to a wider range of expertise.

At St Mary’s we are looking for a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of and commitment to this type of care and education provision.  We want someone who is values-led, can deliver evidence-based practice, can navigate the changing policy and practice context, inspire and motivate our highly dedicated staff, and manage the ongoing financial and operational resource challenges.  If you believe you fit this profile, we would like to meet and talk to you.
