Welcome

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Trustee of Pitlochry Festival Theatre.

Pitlochry Festival Theatre occupies a special place in the Scottish theatre world and is well known around the UK. It creates up to 9 of its own productions in Highland Perthshire each year and, before Covid-19 closed our theatres, attracted c.100,000 visitors annually to its productions, botanical garden, café-bar, restaurant, gallery space, and retail shop.

Coming into the pandemic, PFT was also one of the region’s largest employers, generating large economic returns for the local economy each year and attracting tens of thousands of people into the area.

This is an incredibly exciting time for PFT. The Theatre is currently engaged in a £20m+ creative and capital redevelopment project, known as Vision 2021. This is a once-in-a-generation project for PFT. No other cultural organisation in Scotland is attempting to deliver such a transformative project with such significant regional and national impacts. As a result of Covid-19’s impact on the performing arts and more widely, Vision 2021 is more important than ever, and the Theatre is building now for a sustainable future.

Through the pandemic, the Theatre has focused on staying engaged with its audiences. For this, PFT was recognised by the theatre industry not only in Scotland but also UK-wide with the inclusion in The Stage’s Top 100 award, as a regional theatre celebrated for its work on behalf of the community and the nation during the pandemic.

As we push forward with our redevelopment project, we are also looking to strengthen our Board of Trustees. Our trustees are highly engaged and bring together a wide range of expertise. We are currently looking to bring in new talent and enhance the Board’s depth and breadth of experience. We place diversity at the centre of the organisation and are keen to hear from new voices.

I feel proud to be Chair of Pitlochry Festival Theatre. As a Trustee, supporting and challenging our executives and leaders whilst playing a part to make brilliant things happen and share the enthusiasm of audiences and participants alike is a hugely rewarding experience.

I hope you will feel inspired to join us on our journey!
